Some Horse Less Numbers for You

In Uncategorized on April 29, 2012 at 2:57 pm

We at Horse Less Press are feeling mighty thankful. As of today, we have received 136 chapbook & full-length book submissions for our open reading period, and our Kickstarter project has received $2315 in contributions, which means we are 77% funded. There are only 21 days left for both, so get involved while you can! I have written a little over 60 Thank You haiku and, as of now, have about 26 to catch up on. I am learning to count and miscount the syllables in all things and really looking forward to the amazing books and chapbooks we’re going to get to publish over the next year.

Thank You Haiku (+ 1 Thank You Haibun): Kate Durbin, Sam Kusnetz, Jeff, Tom Andes, Kristi, Rowland Saifi, Eileen Tabios

In Uncategorized on April 28, 2012 at 11:03 pm

Thank you for contributing to our Kickstarter project! Here are your thank you haiku!

Kate Durbin:

Throat full of balloon
said cover it with crevice
version, my straight lace.

Sam Kusnetz:

Circled blue-faced pin
by pin, we passed books until
they looked back at us.

Jeff:

He said bark so still
at least a dozen brothers
peeled white wallpaper.

Tom Andes:

Standing in a fish
light, in the stream fish follow
glowing, story-stunned.

The boy asks why we look up and say hello to each other. I start off, “you know when you’re reading a book, and then you stop reading?” He keeps rubbing at the dimple where it dried.

Kristi:

Paste bottle, eagle
position of fold dairy—
how you say twin loop.

Rowland Saifi:

Normal test bones sound
won’t throw balls, keeps different counts
what a break-in means.

Eileen Tabios:

Her chagrin, a girl
sized neighborhood kid hulas
dirty words, dares you.

Thank you for contributing to our Kickstarter project! Here are your Thank You haiku!

Joel Schapira:

A five syllable
knock-knock joke goes careening
from my frame to yours.

Andrew Terhune:

Saying donut means
something jangling, median
full of crude bluebells.

Rebecca Loudon:

Your toe, its kingdom
carves bears all into my bar,
soapy, flowering.

Rick Morrow:

Parallel legs wool
out the sheep and out counting
pyramids, night caps.

Amaranth Borsuk:

Red machine fungus
told me “put back the ugly
door, finish your glass.”

Wendy Xu:

Our pink grandfather’s
machine keys, the blank one you
hit out of surprise.

Jenny Lee Fowler:

Windmills in horror
movies are slender, leafy
girl script, apt to barn.

Inside voice has tags
that jingle, rising from nurse
log of sister sound.

Donna Kersey:

Deep-fried fedora
sounds beneath lots of quilting
swagger, nickel quail.

Robin Brox:

Sugar mirror needs
fish net plus iridescent
catch to get tight with.

Shanna Compton:

Clap and the ground grows
out of itself, keeps count past
its extra fingers.

Linda Russo:

They ate everything
like headlines do, but you’re still
able to wrangle.

Eight-armed prairie ghost

Practical berry
deep in a very tall glass—
sugared each morning.

Long silk director
won’t leave the body alone:
so mod some trick skin.

Sand between saying
words: have a grit and angel
monster slash mirage.

In Uncategorized on April 21, 2012 at 1:14 am

Thank you all for your contributions to our Kickstarter project! Here are your haiku!

Valerie Loveland:

Raining, a radish
peppers you with how-to, list
announces its end.

Moe & Jess:

Photograph glasses
in whole cross-country: purring
makeshift ignition.

Susan:

If mistranslated
the little red-head of dreams
turns out red-handed.

Hazel McClure (Take 1):

Chicken wings so rule
Give me all your chicken wings—
(Dagan helped with this.)

Hazel McClure (Take 2):

D’s story: a boy
spells broccoli wrong throughout
the book, but it’s fine.

Peter Murphy:

The number of pots
burnt through the bottom: at night
he’s always sandwiched.

Kathleen Ossip:

No one knew the dog
every film projected on
its white side, cloud bust.

Lilamini Neel:

Turnip pictures one
way to disappear  a night
pocketed, in need.

Shakespeare:

Pseudononymous
the dog takes it line by line
at our feet: A+.

Curtis Perdue:

Take the Roman out
of the word sounds: still feathers
quiver on the birds.
